Most Common Viking Repairs

Viking Range Failures We Fix

Viking's commercial-inspired sealed burner system is built for performance — but it has specific failure patterns that require Viking-specific parts and diagnostic knowledge.

Top 5 Viking Repairs
1

Sealed Burner Igniter Failure

Viking's sealed burners use ceramic spark igniters — the most common Viking repair. Burner won't light or clicks without igniting. Cracked igniters and moisture-damaged igniters are both same-day fixes.

2

Continuous Burner Clicking

Non-stop clicking after a burner is turned off is usually moisture or debris trapped in the burner cap. We clean and dry the igniter assembly — if the ceramic is cracked, we replace it.

3

Oven Igniter Failure (Gas Models)

Viking gas oven not heating — the oven igniter has failed. Viking uses a glow-bar igniter in the oven section that weakens over time. Replacement restores full oven function same-day.

4

TruConvec Fan Motor Failure

Viking's TruConvec convection system uses a third element with a dedicated fan. Fan motor failure causes uneven cooking and longer bake times — motor replacement is a stocked repair on 7 Series models.

5

Oven Temperature Sensor

Viking oven runs too hot, too cold, or shuts off prematurely — the RTD temperature sensor has drifted out of calibration or failed. A quick sensor replacement restores accurate oven temperatures.

Viking Repair Reviews from Fort Bend County

★★★★★

"Viking 7 Series 48" — two front burners wouldn't ignite. Tech came to our Sugar Land kitchen same morning, diagnosed cracked ceramic igniters on both, replaced them with Viking-spec parts. Tested every burner before leaving. Back to full operation. He explained Viking igniters are different from standard — now I know why the last guy couldn't fix it."

"Viking 5 Series range — gas oven not heating. Tech came to Sienna, replaced the oven glow-bar igniter, tested the gas valve, and ran the oven through two cycles to confirm correct temperature. Also found the temperature sensor was slightly off and replaced it while there. Thorough work."

"Old Viking VGSC range from 2003 — one burner clicking constantly. Tech identified moisture trapped in the burner cap, cleaned and dried the igniter assembly, and it stopped immediately. Said the igniter itself was fine. No parts needed, honest diagnosis. Our 20-year-old Viking is still going strong."

Viking Repair FAQs

Common Viking Questions

Why won't my Viking burner light?+
A Viking burner that won't ignite is almost always a failed or cracked ceramic igniter. Viking's sealed burner system uses ceramic spark igniters that sit next to the burner head. Over time — especially with exposure to cleaning chemicals or boilover moisture — these igniters crack or fail. You may see a spark that doesn't catch, or no spark at all. Viking igniters are brand-specific parts; generic igniters don't fit correctly. We carry Viking-spec igniters for all current series.
Why does my Viking range keep clicking after I turn off the burner?+
Continuous clicking on a Viking range after turning off the burner is caused by moisture or debris in the igniter assembly. The igniter is wet or food debris is bridging the spark gap, causing it to click continuously. The fix: dry the igniter area thoroughly (a hairdryer works), clean any debris from the burner cap and igniter. If the clicking persists after drying, the igniter ceramic is cracked and needs replacement. We see this after boilovers, vigorous cleaning, or in humid Texas weather.
Is it worth repairing an older Viking range?+
Almost always yes. Viking ranges from the 1990s and early 2000s — the original VGSC and DFSB series — are often easier to repair than current models because their systems are simpler and more mechanical. Parts remain available for most legacy Viking models. A $150 igniter repair on a Viking range that cost $6,000 originally is an obvious choice. We've repaired Viking ranges that are 25+ years old and still cooking beautifully.
My Viking oven heats unevenly — what's wrong?+
Uneven heating in a Viking oven is most commonly caused by either a failed convection fan motor (7 Series TruConvec models) or a drifted temperature sensor. If the convection fan has stopped, heat only rises from the bottom element and unevenness results. If the temperature sensor is reading incorrectly, one side or section of the oven runs hotter than the other. We diagnose both during the service call and carry fan motors and sensors for all current Viking oven models.
How much does Viking range repair cost?+
We use flat-rate pricing with a written estimate before work begins. Common Viking repairs: igniter replacement $130–$200 per burner, continuous-clicking cleaning $95–$140, oven igniter $150–$230, temperature sensor $140–$210, convection fan motor $180–$280, control board $250–$450. Given that Viking ranges cost $3,000–$12,000+ new, even significant repairs represent excellent value. Diagnostic fee waived when you proceed.
