Thermador's Star Burner is a 5-pointed star-shaped gas burner head — not a round ring like every other brand. The star design creates 56% more flame coverage across the bottom of the pan, distributing heat more evenly. Because the burner head shape is unique, the igniter assembly and flame spreader components are also unique to Thermador — no generic igniter fits a Star Burner. What is ExtraLow and how is it repaired when it fails?+
ExtraLow is Thermador's patented simmer system — a secondary burner valve that maintains a very low, stable flame without cycling on and off. Standard burners cycle to maintain low heat; ExtraLow holds a true continuous low flame as low as 100°F. When ExtraLow fails — the burner goes out at low settings, or the burner won't hold a simmer — the ExtraLow simmer valve or thermocouple has failed.
